Zephyranthes candida (rain lily)

 

General info: Zephyranthes candida, commonly called rain lily, thrive in wet to moist well drained soil in full sun. Rain lilies do not perform well in colder climates. They are native to South America and bloom after lots of rain. This species stays pretty low and grows from bulbs. It has fine textured foliage and a single beautiful white bloom. These will continue to bloom through summer and into fall.

Landscape uses: Zephyranthes candida are very attractive species. Since this species only get about a foot tall it would be perfect along a pathway. Plant this species along the border of a rain garden or rock garden. Rain lilies are also stunning when planted in mass or groups.
