General info: Chasmanthium latifolium, commonly called northern sea oats or river oats, is a North American native perennial that thrives in medium to wet well drained soil in full sun to part shade. River oats are typically found growing in moist woodlands and along riverbanks. This species is shade tolerant and grows in clumps reaching up to five feet tall.

Landscape uses: Chasmanthium latifolium is a very versatile native perennial. This species beautiful clumps of bright green foliage provides nice texture for marginal plantings. River oats are topped with beautiful oat like seed heads heading into summer. Also, in late summer this species foliage will turn a golden bronze color.
