General info: Carex stricta, commonly called tussock sedge, is a North American native perennial that thrives in moist to wet soils in full sun to part shade. This Carex can tolerate growing in standing water. It is found in central to eastern US along rivers, wet meadows, and riverbanks. Tussock sedge grows in sun, but it can also tolerate shaded spots. This native evergreen clump forming sedge reaches heights up to two feet tall and has very attractive uniform foliage. It spreads by rhizomes and forms colonies.

Plant this species in mass along a body of water or as an attractive perennial border. Secondly this Carex species can tolerate seasonal flooding and grows well in standing water.
