General info: Carex texensis, commonly called Texas sedge, is a North American native sedge that thrives in dry to moist soil in part sun to part shade. In the wild Texas sedge is found in sandy woodlands. Its native range is from the east coast to the Midwest. This sedge can tolerate moist soils or dry shade. Once established this species can tolerate drought and heat. This attractive sedge has fine texture foliage and colonizes by rhizomes.

Landscape uses: Texas sedge is a very versatile native sedge. In the garden, this species spreads to 30″ wide and reaches a height of 5″ and is evergreen. This sedge would be beautiful planted in mass as a turf substitution. It would also be great planted around steppingstones.
