General info: Conoclinium coelestinum, commonly called blue mistflower, is a North American native perennial that thrives in average to medium wet soil in full sun to partial shade. Typically, this species is found growing along roadways, in ditches, or along bodies of water. Blue mistflower gets its common name from its beautiful purple to blue fluffy blooms. This native herbaceous perennial blooms in late summer to fall and is a big attractor of butterflies and other pollinators. It will spread by rhizomes and self-seeding. Taller plants can get up to three feet tall and may need to be cut back in summer.
