This native cool season perennial bunch grass is easily grown from seed. It is used mostly in erosion control. Virginia wild rye is typically found growing along roadsides, forest, pastures, and streambanks. It preforms best in light shade and reaches heights up to four feet tall. This clump forming species has attractive swaying foliage that turns a tan color in Autumn time.
