General info:  Eryngium aquaticum, commonly called bitter snakeroot, is a North American native perennial that thrives in medium to wet soil in full to partial shade. This native aquatic perennial is typically found growing around bogs and marshes. It can grow in both some water and beside bodies of water with moist soils. Bitter snakeroot was once used by Native Americans to treat snakebites. This wildflower can get up to four feet tall.
