General info: Hibiscus moscheutos, commonly called swamp rose mallow, is a native North American perennial that grows best in moist soil with lots of sun. This plant is very tolerant to the heat and humidity but cannot survive in dry soil. Swamp rose mallow can reach heights up to six feet tall and has blooms the size of dinner plates.

Landscape uses: Hibiscus moscheutos is used best in low spots or along streams and ponds where the soil stays moist. Swamp rose mallow gets about six feet tall making it an effective temporary summer hedge.
