General info: Iris Louisiana ‘Black Gamecock’ is a North American native Louisiana Iris cultivar. This native Iris thrives in wet to moist soils in full sun to part shade. This Iris can tolerate some shade but grows best is full sun with lots of water. Black Gamecock grows best in up to six inches of standing water. In the wild this Iris is typically found growing in riversides, swamps and marshes.

Landscape uses: This native Louisiana Iris have striking deep purple almost black blooms that attracts lots of pollinators including hummingbirds. Use this Iris in a rain garden or along the edges of ponds or streams to add a nice pop of color. You could also plant this Iris in sunken pots in a pond or lake. Use this plant in any wet low spots with standing water where nothing else will grow.
