General info: Iris versicolor, commonly called northern blue flag, is a North American native perennial that grows best in two to four inches of standing water in full sun to partial shade. This iris is clump forming and native to marshes, swamps, and shorelines. This species does not have to be planted in standing water. It can also adapt to more of a garden setting if kept moist. These beautiful perennials have bright green sword like foliage that stays attractive almost all year long. They produce a taller stalk with a singular large open bloom on top.
