General Info: Phlox divaricata, commonly called woodland phlox, is a North American native perennial that thrives in medium moisture soil in part shade to full shade. It is a spreading native wildflower that forms mats of foliage. This species can reach about a foot to a foot and a half tall. As the common name suggests, this is a woodland species which occurs in rich woods, fields and along streams.

Landscape uses: Phlox divaricata is a very versatile native perennial. This species spreads and stay low to the ground. Making this a great choice for a blooming ground cover in a shaded area. Secondly, this would be an excellent choice for a rock garden or native wildflower garden. Use woodland Phlox as a blooming border around a pathway.
